Pure Research > VALIDATE
Virtual The VALIDATE project, is a German efficiency initiative, funded by the German federal ministry of research, with the aim of using virtual reality simulation to train drivers on how to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Operated by Stuttgart university 's institute for combustion engines and automotive engineering., the project includes a hemisphere VR interface, with a mock-up car placed in it. The hemisphere uses shutter glasses to produce stereoscopic viewing, replicating the physical world as closely as possible. The mock-up vehicle is itself fitted on a flight simulation base, offering a realistic reproduction of longitudinal and lateral accelerations as well as rotational movement with six degrees of freedom. Results:Project still underway.
