In gameworlds, particularly MMOs and some gaming MUDs, the corpse is a new object created where a monster or player avatar fell in combat. It looks like the monster or avatar, and contains all the items the other had on it, but is completely uncontrollable, usually has no attached player viewpoint, and just sits there on the ground until someone removes all objects from it, at which point it usually vanishes or fades into the ground.
