Polytomography

Polytomography can be described basically as multiple synchronous tomography. Tomography is a method of scanning a physical three dimensional object, and creating a digital, 3D replica by dividing the object into sections, scanning each separately, and then recombining them afterwards to create a final model. Polytomography thusly, does that two or three times over, with each section examined by a different scanning head, in rapid succession.

Currently, the only real use of polytomography is in medical scanning, as the human body is living and active when it is being scanned, so multiple quick succession scans help eliminate distortion caused by internal movement from slice to slice.
