Substrate Independence

Substrate independence is essentially the argument that it does not matter what medium software is running on, it is still the same software. A mind running on the wetware of a human brain, all other things being equal, is no different to a mind running on a computer simulation of a brain.

In other words, the substrate is irrelevant, both are the same, and should be weighed the same.
